CFFRC Research Highlights 2018

2018 was the first year of the new theme structure for our research, and this report provides some highlights of the research activities. Bambara groundnut has been the main focus of our research to date, and in this report we draw particular attention to the many projects that are underway to improve the crop, determine where it can be grown and deliver palatable and nutritious foods that people want to eat.

Our research in partnership with the African Orphan Crops Consortium has led to publication of the genome of bambara groundnut with amaranth and winged bean under completion; these genomes are now being used to guide breeding programmes that will deliver improved crops to farmers.
