Africa Portal Library : This open access repository holds publications related to African policy issues and they are available for free full-text download

The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SAWISE)  : The association aims to improve the role and contribution of women scientists and engineers in South Africa. A regular newsletter is circulated to all members. Activities, events and scholarship opportunities which are intended for women scientists and engineers can be obtained from the website.

Association for African Medicinal Plants Standards (AAMPS) – An association dedicated to the preparation of technical specifications and quality control standards for African medicinal plants and herbal medicines.

Research in Agricultural and Applied Economics (AgEcon Search) : A free, open access repository of full-text scholarly literature in agricultural and applied economics. It includes working papers, conference papers and journal articles. It is part of the University of Minnesota’s Digital Conservancy.

Access to Global Online Research in Agriculture(AGORA) : Provides free access to almost 1900 journals from major scientific publishers in the fields of food, agriculture, environmental science, and related social sciences. Agora makes available agricultural information from the best of the academic journals to not-for-profit national academic, research or government institutions in low-income countries.

International Information System for the Agricultural Sciences and Technology (AGRIS) : A global public domain database maintained by FAO with more than two million structured bibliographical records that cover many aspects of agriculture, including forestry, animal husbandry, aquatic sciences and fisheries, human nutrition and extension from over 100 participating countries. The bibliographic references contain either links to the full text of the publication or additional information retrieved from related Internet resources. The available material includes unique grey literature such as unpublished scientific and technical reports, theses, conference papers, government publications, and more.

African Journal of Food, Agriculture, Nutrition and Development (AJFAND) : A quarterly peer reviewed journal published in Kenya by the Rural Outreach Programme (ROP) in Nairobi. AJFAND is open to both African and non-African contributors to publish in agriculture, food, nutrition, environmental management and sustainable development related information.

African Journals Online (AJOL) : A partnership between hundreds of African-published journals. It makes available the African-origin research output to Africans and to the rest of the world. Full text articles for Open Access journals on AJOL are free to download. Select the option of “List Open Access Only”. Free full-text articles for PERI Programme-eligible countries.

eJournals Delivery Service : Distributes individual scientific articles, free of charge, via email to scientists in developing country institutions where low bandwidth or complete lack of internet connection makes access to current scientific literature difficult or impossible. The goal is to provide current literature to support the ongoing research of scientists.

Eldis : maintains a collection of free full-text, online documents published in topic related to development, policy, practice and research.

Ethnobotany Research & Applications: A peer-reviewed multi-disciplinary journal with downloadable papers on applied research of plants.

FAO Corporate Document Repository: Stores FAO documents and publications, as well as selected non-FAO publications, in electronic format.

Fruits : Fruits covers a wide range of subjects (agronomy, crop protection, postharvest storage, product processing and marketing) on fruit crops in temperate, Mediterranean subtropical and tropical regions.

International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications / Programme for the Enhancement of Research Information(INASP/PERI) : This network was designed to support research in developing and transitional countries by providing access to scientific and scholarly information through electronic means. Institutions in a range of developing countries are eligible for free access to a very large number of scientific journals on the Internet – the normally high subscription costs have been waivered through PERI (Programme for the Enhancement of Research Information).

NAL (National Agriculture Library) Catalogue : This portal provides citations to agricultural literature.

NewCROP - the New Crop Resource Online Program : Developed by the Center for New Crops & Plant Products, Purdue University aims to provide information on new and specialty crops.

Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSDW) : Seeks to strengthen the role of women scientists in the development process and scientific and technological leadership.

PLoS Biology : A peer-reviewed open-access journal published by the Public Library of Science.

Plant Resources of South-East Asia (PROSEA) : A programme that aims to document information on plant genetic resources in South-East Asia.

Research4Life : Research4Life is the collective name for the four programmes – HINARI, AGORA, OARE and ARDI. Academic, governmental or research institutions in developing countries which are eligible for registration will be able to access to over 8000 peer-reviewed scientific journals, books and databases in the fields of health, agriculture, environment and other life, physical and social sciences.

Scientific Electronic Library Online(SciELO) : Through SciELO, researchers can find scientific journals published on the Internet, which particular focus on the literature of Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Trees for Life Journal : An open-access journal of traditional knowledge and scientific studies of beneficial trees and plants published online by Trees for Life, a non-profit organization.

Women Scientists Scheme (WOS) : The scheme offers scholarships to women scientists who are citizen of India to pursue research in basic and applied science, including life sciences.
